7T Diffusion Imaging of Rat by Using SNAILS and Its Application in Stroke Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
INTRODUCTION Diffusion-Weighted Imaging (DWI) can assist physicians in the quality of diagnosis, treatment and outcome prediction, greatly enhancing the care available for stroke patients. Animal stroke studies with DWI are widely investigated to facilitate the development of stroke diagnosis [1]. However, diffusion imaging on small animals at high fields is usually very challenging due to the resolution-SNR tradeoff and hardware imperfection. The widely used single shot Echo Planar Imaging (ssEPI) DWI technique is particularly vulnerable to these factors and tends to produce severe image artifacts. In this work, we demonstrate the implementation of the self-navigated interleaved spirals (SNAILS) technique [2] on our 7T animal scanner. High quality DWI images can be acquired for stroke studies on rats. The preliminary diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) results also seem promising for future animal DTI studies.

DT-MRI Tractography and its Application in Cognitive Neuroscience
Recent advancement of MRI techniques and development of new methods of image analysis have allowed us to study large neural tracts within the human brain. This is based on the principle of diffusion tensor MRI that is similar to that of diffusion-weighted imaging but takes magnitude and direction of the diffusion of water into account. Using this technique we have been able to define large neur...

متن کاملDiffusion imaging in humans at 7T using readout-segmented EPI and GRAPPA.
Anatomical MRI studies at 7T have demonstrated the ability to provide high-quality images of human tissue in vivo. However, diffusion-weighted imaging at 7T is limited by the increased level of artifact associated with standard, single-shot, echo-planar imaging, even when parallel imaging techniques such as generalized autocalibrating partially parallel acquisitions (GRAPPA) are used to reduce ...

Background and Aim: The methods for detecting brain activation with fMRI, MRI provides a way to measure the anatomical connections which enable lightning-fast communication among neurons that specialize in different kinds of brain functions. Diffusion tensor imaging is able to measure the direction of bundles of the axonal fibers which are all aligned. Besides mapping white matter fiber tracts,...

Introduction Range and diffusion of positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals are important parameters for image resolution in positron emission tomography (PET). In this study, GEANT4 toolkit was applied to study positron diffusion in soft tissues with and without a magnetic field for six commonly used isotopes in PET imaging including 11C, 13N, 15O, 18F, 68Ga, and 82Rb. Materials and Methods GEA...
